Milton Roy metering pump working principle: The GM pump consists of two main parts: the drive end and the hydraulic end. The output flow depends on the stroke speed of the drive end and the size of the hydraulic end components and stroke length. Regardless of the pump's running or stopped state, the stroke length can be adjusted by turning the stroke adjustment handle; the drive end operates according to the principle of the variable eccentric mechanism. The motor drives a turbine connected to the eccentric mechanism; a worm; the eccentric mechanism converts the rotational motion of the turbine into the reciprocating linear motion of the connecting rod.
The diaphragm component and rod are mechanically connected; they move linearly reciprocally simultaneously. During the intake stroke, the diaphragm starts moving backward; the pressure inside the pump head decreases. When the pressure inside the pump head is lower than the pressure in the suction line, the ball of the one-way valve at the intake port is pushed up; the medium in the inlet line enters the pump head chamber. When the intake stroke ends, the diaphragm's movement stops instantly; the pressure inside the pump head is equal to the pressure in the inlet line; the ball of the one-way valve at the intake port resets.
During the discharge stroke; the diaphragm begins to move forward; the pressure inside the pump head immediately increases. When the pump head pressure exceeds the pressure in the outlet pipeline; the one-way valve ball at the discharge outlet is pushed upwards; the medium inside the pump head enters the outlet pipeline. At the end of the discharge stroke; the diaphragm stops instantaneously once more; the pressure inside the pump head equals the pressure in the outlet pipeline; the one-way valve ball at the outlet resets. Then the next cycle begins.
