A DC Torque Motor is a specialized type of brushless permanent magnet synchronous motor. Due to the direct connection of the load to the rotor, no transmission components are required, making the torque motor a direct drive technology. The torque motor is also known as a "frameless" motor, meaning it has no housing, bearings, or measuring system. These components are selected by the machine manufacturer based on the required performance or purchased as a complete set.

The torque motor utilizes a design of permanent magnet reluctance brushless motor. The motor is composed of a ring-shaped stator and a ring-shaped rotor. The stator does not use a toothed lamination design but is made up of smooth cylindrical laminations. The rotor consists of multi-pole rare-earth permanent magnet poles and a ring-shaped hollow shaft. This structure features a large air gap, ensuring uniform magnetic resistance throughout the entire working air gap, thereby offering the advantage of a slotless torque.
