The torque motor is also known as a "frameless" motor, meaning it has no housing, bearings, or measuring system. These components are selected by the machine manufacturer based on the required performance or purchased as a complete set.

Torque motors differ from traditional motors in that their specifications are primarily determined by torque, not power. Moreover, torque determines the actual torque that the motor can produce and the continuous torque determines the torque the motor can provide continuously. The load cycle of the application determines the degree of dependency on torque or continuous torque.
