
Voice coil linear motors, also known as Lorentz motors or scanner motors, are named for their structure resembling the coil of a speaker. They are fast-response direct-drive motors with zero magnetic hysteresis and zero magnetic slot effects, featuring high frequency response, acceleration, speed, good force characteristics, easy control, small size, and high resolution. Abroad, voice coil motors are considered excellent servo drives. Depending on the configuration of the drive, feedback, controller, and control algorithm, voice coil motors typically achieve a motion frequency of 500-1000Hz, even higher.






Flat-type voice coil motors have a shorter stroke compared to rectangular voice coil motors in the same volume, but their advantage is a lower profile. They offer a thrust of up to 500N and a stroke of 25mm. The flat series is an ideal product for generating short stroke X-Y motion, primarily targeting the semiconductor and micro-machine tool industries.

The basic working principle is that when an energized conductor passes through a magnetic field, it generates a force perpendicular to the magnetic lines. The magnitude of this force depends on the length of the conductor passing through the field, as well as the intensity of the magnetic field and the current. The coil motor converts actual current into linear thrust or torque, both of which are proportional to the actual current passing through. The magnitude of the thrust produced by the coil motor depends on the design structure and the intensity of the current: F = β*L*I. The relationship between current and the force generated is represented by the force sensitivity Kf in linear coil motors and the torque sensitivity Kt in rotating coil motors. In our design, we define the unit of Kf as N/A, and the unit of Kt as N·m/A.
