Synthetic fiber made from acrylonitrile copolymers with acrylonitrile or acrylonitrile content greater than 85% (by weight). Common monomers include non-ionic monomers such as methyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, etc., with the third monomer being ionic monomers like sodium acrylate sulfate.
Polyacrylonitrile fibers require a high purity of the raw material acrylonitrile, with the total content of impurities being less than 0.005%. The monomers used for polymerization are mainly methyl acrylate, with methyl methacrylate also being an option, with the aim of enhancing spinnability and the fiber's hand, softness, and elasticity; the third monomer primarily improves the dyeability of the fiber, typically being itaconic acid containing weakly acidic dye groups, sodium acrylate containing strongly acidic dye groups, sodium methyl methacrylate, sodium p-methacrylamide benzenesulfonate, and methyl vinyl pyridine containing alkaline dye groups.
