Water-retaining agents use highly absorbent resins, which are functional high polymer materials with exceptional water absorption capabilities. They are non-toxic and harmless, capable of repeatedly releasing and absorbing water, hence likened to "miniature reservoirs" in agriculture. Additionally, they can absorb fertilizers and pesticides and slowly release them, enhancing the efficacy of both. Highly absorbent resins are widely used in agriculture, forestry, horticulture, building materials; in industry, they are extensively applied in petrochemicals, cables, papermaking, sensors, fire extinguishers, fiber products, cosmetics, food preservation, and expandable toys.
