How are curbstone installations typically done?
Forms of roadside curbs include vertical, inclined, and flat types. Today, let's discuss the installation methods of roadside curbs, and let's learn about them through this article.
Material Requirements
The roadside stone materials are mechanically cut from uniform-quality natural granite. The stone must meet the strength requirements, featuring even coloration, free from cracks on the surface, complete edges, consistent appearance, without noticeable spots or color variations, and no weathering allowed. During loading and unloading, no dropping, smashing, bumping, or collision is permitted to avoid damage.
Processing Requirements
The material is cut to uniform lengths, and the exposed surfaces must be machine-polished. Length tolerance is ±20mm, while width, thickness, and degree tolerances are ±2mm.
Construction Requirements
Curbing must be stretched with a tension line for construction, adhering to the side plane marking lines. Lay the side curbing stones according to the lines, ensuring they are properly aligned and not tilted forward or backward. The side lines should be straight, smooth, and even, with no misalignment. The plane should have no up-and-down or inside-and-out misalignment.
2. Curbs must be constructed with mortar, ensuring the mortar is compact and filling gaps is strictly prohibited.
3. Misalignment at roadside curb joints should not exceed 1mm; the side stones and flat stones must be evenly staggered in the middle.
4. Curbside flat stones should meet the size and finish requirements as specified in the design. The appearance should be aesthetically pleasing. For弯道 parts, side stones should be specially machined to the design radius for弯道 stones. During construction, the line should be smooth, rounded, and joints should be tight. Arc-shaped side stones must be hand-finished and polished.
5. The back of the curb should be compacted with soil, with a compaction width of not less than 50mm and a thickness of not less than 15mm.
6. Curbing Joint Sealing: When sealing, re-string the line and thoroughly clean out debris from the side stone joints. Moisten with water, then fill and seal the joints with 1:2.5 cement砂浆.
7. Side flat stone joints should be properly watered and maintained after installation.
