We know that color steel sheets, when exposed to wind and sunlight for extended periods, the surface paint layer will age, leading to what was mentioned earlier: direct contact between oxygen in the air and the base plate, causing rust. Therefore, the process of renovation and corrosion prevention is actually to isolate the base plate from direct contact with the air using paint, creating a completely sealed environment for the base plate, thereby preventing it from reacting with oxygen in the air, achieving the purpose of corrosion and rust prevention.
Water-based color steel tile paint, environmentally friendly, non-flammable and non-explosive, resistant to aging and yellowing, water-resistant, maintains the surface color of the coated material against aging, retains vibrant colors, strong surface film resistance to aging, UV-resistant, paint film withstands high temperatures of 60-80°C without issues, operates normally at low temperatures down to -40°C, and has no abnormalities after 7x24 hours of water immersion, effectively extending the service life by 6-10 years.
Updating and renovating a color steel roof typically involves rust removal, sanding, polishing, and then applying anti-corrosion paint. However, traditional rust-proofing materials, due to inadequate environmental protection and their pungent odor, can lead to significant air pollution. Moreover, they also increase labor costs and the difficulty of construction projects.
The painted layer of the corrosion-resistant color steel roof can undergo water-based anti-rust treatment and moisture-proof maintenance. Even if the roof is exposed to acidic or alkaline natural environments for a long time, the lifespan of the color steel roof can still reach 5-10 years. The product's anti-rust treatment feature stands out, especially for roofs with severe rust, yielding significant results.

III. Reasons for Regularly Renovating Color Steel Roofing:
1. Due to factors like rainfall and environmental conditions, there may be some impact on the color steel roof, especially considering its long service life, which can lead to various degrees of rust and corrosion on the roof surface.
2. Color steel sheet material contains a high iron content, which, upon contact with acids, alkalis, or organic solvents, will undergo a chemical reaction to form ferric oxide, commonly known as rust. Severe rusting of color steel sheet can lead to corrosion and rust perforations.
3. During rainy weather, the roof surface is affected by environmental elements and the oxidation decomposition of acidic and alkaline rainwater. The rainwater runs down the color steel sheets, leaving rust stains. Over time, the roof has developed extensive rusting conditions.
If not timely treated for corrosion and renovation, the color steel plates will gradually become more and more corroded, eventually leading to holes. This will result in more severe water leakage. At that point, the repair will not only involve corrosion and renovation but will also require waterproofing and corrosion prevention for the entire roof, which will incur higher costs.
4. The roof's color steel sheets are of good quality, but most of the roof now has rust spots, with some areas being more severe. If not treated with anti-corrosion renovation promptly to prevent further rusting, the longer the rusting, the more likely the color steel sheets on the roof will develop rust holes, increasing the cost of repairs.
It is recommended to sand and remove rust from the corroded areas of the roof as soon as possible, perform anti-corrosion renovation work, and prevent further oxidation and rusting. After anti-corrosion treatment, not only is the colored steel roof timely protected, but the lifespan of the roof's colored steel panels is also extended, and the roof is completely refreshed!
Color-coated steel sheet water-based anticorrosive paint
1: Primarily used for the second-time renovation of steel structure color steel roof panels, offering advantages such as simple construction, low cost, and long warranty period.
2: Surface preparation involves rust removal first, followed by painting. Applying two coats of primer and topcoat is sufficient.
3: Waterproof and Rust-Proof Renovation, Color Steel Roofing Paint with 5 Years of Color Retention and 8 Years of No Cracking or Peeling: First, clean the dust on the surface of the color steel sheet. Then, use an electric grinding wheel or wire brush, and sandpaper to grind off the rust and oxides on the metal surface. Next, use a high-pressure water gun to wash away the floating dust on the metal surface. For oil stains, wipe with gasoline or thinner. Special attention must be given to the rust removal at bolt connections and welds, ensuring the rust removal level reaches ST2 and the metal sheen is fully exposed. Reinforce the metal roof without any loose parts, rust, dust, and perform the anti-corrosion renovation when the roof is dry.
When using paint, ensure it is well-mixed and free of color variation before applying. The anti-corrosion process for color steel roof panels involves a two-coat system (apply one layer of anti-rust primer; two layers of topcoat). After the coating is fully dry, the film thickness should be over 0.15mm.
Reroofing with colored steel tiles is not as easy as one might imagine, but it can save a substantial amount of costs, making it widely favored in real-life applications.
Most applications of color steel panels are outdoors, where they must withstand harsh weather conditions. Over time, the surface is inevitable prone to varying degrees of corrosion, rust, and leakage. As the lifespan progresses, considering a color steel panel renovation is necessary to extend its usage. Renovating with water-based paint for color steel panels is a good choice.
Color Steel Roofing Sheets, also known as colored corrugated sheets, are made by rolling and cold bending colored coated steel plates into various wave patterns. They are suitable for industrial and residential buildings, warehouses, special structures, large-span steel structures, and for roofing, walling, and interior and exterior decoration. They feature light weight, high strength, rich colors, easy and quick installation, seismic resistance, fire resistance, waterproofing, long lifespan, and maintenance-free properties. They are mainly used in industrial factories, self-built simple houses, containers, and have been widely applied. Now let's discuss the construction process for the renovation of color steel roofing sheets.
Before refinishing the color steel roofing with paint, the first thing you need to do is inspect the corrosion on the color steel. If there's rust, it should be sanded first to more effectively remove rust from the corroded areas. We recommend not to take shortcuts by using so-called rust inhibitors; the practical results are not as good as those from a proper sanding and rust removal process.
After polishing is complete, dust and debris from the polishing process should be cleaned up.
Next, employ high-pressure water cleaning to remove any rust and loose debris left from sanding, ensuring the panel surface is clean and preparing it for the application of water-based paint for the renovation of steel roofing panels.
After the surface water has dried, apply the galvanized steel sheet renovation undercoat spray. Once the undercoat is dry, apply the renovation topcoat. Whether applying the undercoat or topcoat, mix the galvanized steel sheet renovation paint thoroughly before use. Ensure the paint film adheres firmly to the base material and between layers without peeling or flaking; the dry film thickness of each layer meets the spraying requirements; the base surface is flat, with no unevenness; there are no defects like runs, drips, or pinholes. This ensures a glossy, full paint film with even color and luster; the overall effect is harmonious and aesthetically pleasing.
Step 1: Roof Cleaning
Including roof screw installation and reinforcement at loose panel areas. Sand the surface twice with a sander, then thoroughly clean with high-pressure water washing, and inspect for roof leaks.
Step Two: Roof Waterproofing Construction
The sides of the light panel are coated with a specialized waterproof base coat once, then polyester fabric is applied, followed by a waterproof top coat. Additional layer treatment is done around the roof structure, and the roof is inspected to ensure no leakage points.
Step Three: Overall Roof Coating with Primer and Topcoat
The entire roof is coated with two layers of durable corrosion-resistant undercoat for color steel tiles, enhancing their anti-corrosion properties. After complete drying, apply two layers of the same series CW310 custom anti-corrosion topcoat, providing the roof with excellent resistance to aging, high temperatures, corrosion, and acidity/baseness, thereby extending its lifespan.
Step 4: Apply primer and finish paint to the facade walls
After rust removal and cleaning with an angle grinder for the facade walls, reinforce the wall waistline and window perimeters using two layers of glass fiber cloth coated with three layers of epoxy resin. The surface should be flat, without hollows or creases. Then, apply one coat of CW308 (thick paste) durable anti-rust primer specifically for steel tile renovation, followed by two coats of CW310 customized anti-corrosion topcoat for steel tiles.
Step 5: Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the roof
Ensure all roof areas are fully constructed and address any leaks or deficiencies.
Construction Plan
The coastal regions are predominantly hilly and mountainous, characterized by a subtropical monsoon climate, which is warm and humid, and falls under the humid region category. Based on the climate and our understanding of the on-site work, we have preliminarily identified the cause of the factory building's corrosion. Considering the installation of photovoltaic solar panels on the iron horse factory roof and the environmental requirements, which demand resistance to water and salt雾, and heavy corrosion prevention, we have customized the renovation and corrosion prevention construction process for the factory's color steel roof. We recommend a high-performance corrosion prevention system solution. The project is planned to use the CW series color steel roof renovation paint, which ensures long-lasting corrosion prevention after renovation.
Step 1: Roof Cleaning Process.
Including roof screw installation and reinforcement at loose panel areas, use our independently developed color steel tile renovation and anti-corrosion grinding machine for two rounds of polishing, followed by a high-pressure water cleaning, inspecting for roof leaks, and then addressing the leak first.
Step Two: Apply rust-preventive undercoat and corrosion-resistant topcoat.
The entire roof is coated with one layer of CW series colored steel tile renovation paint to enhance its corrosion resistance. After it is completely dry, apply two layers of custom gray anti-corrosion finish paint for the colored steel tile, providing the roof with excellent aging resistance, high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and acid-base resistance, thereby extending its lifespan.
Step Three: Identify and Fill Gaps
Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the roof to ensure all areas have been properly constructed.
Technical on-site inspection analyzes the surrounding environment and factory warehouse production to identify the primary cause of roof rust.
The region experiences a high humidity and rainy climate, making the roof prone to corrosion.
2. Workshop production polishing generates floating rust, and acid-washing components produce corrosive gases upon heating.
3. The workshop is equipped with baking equipment, which generates high temperatures and causes gradual corrosion to the roof.
4. No regular roof inspections. Pre-emptive protective measures should be taken.
We use polishing and spray painting techniques, first thoroughly cleaning the base material to remove surface rust and flaking layers through sanding, allowing the primer to adhere well to the surface for rust prevention and corrosion resistance. After sanding, we perform a high-pressure cleaning on the entire color steel roof renovation with high-pressure water jets flowing from top to bottom to wash away rust particles and stains. We then apply one coat of water-based color steel roof special primer, followed by two coats of acid-resistant, alkali-resistant, and weather-resistant special topcoats after drying. The renovated color steel roof can be used for over 8 years.
