Cultivation Techniques of Camphor Pine
Choose a nursery site
According to the growth habits of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica seedlings, it is advisable to choose sandy loam soil with neutral or slightly acidic soil, fertile soil, loose texture, good drainage, and low groundwater level for seedling cultivation. Land plots with low-lying terrain, poor drainage, and heavy soil viscosity are not suitable for selection.
Soil fertilization
Apply sufficient base fertilizer to improve the soil. In arid areas of western Liaoning with low soil organic matter content, sufficient organic fertilizer must be applied to seedling cultivation to ensure nutrient supply; Adjust soil structure, enhance water storage, moisture retention, and ventilation performance. More than 10000 kilograms of farmyard manure should be applied per acre. First, spread the farmyard manure evenly into the seedling field, and then flip it into the soil tillage layer; Ridge cultivation involves evenly spreading farmyard manure into the ditch and then merging the ridges.
Seed germination promotion
Seed germination treatment. In the western Liaoning region, mixed sand burial should be used for seed germination treatment. 15-20 days before sowing, choose a place with high and dry terrain, good drainage, and windward and sunny conditions. Dig a sand storage pit with a width and depth of 50-60 centimeters each, and a length determined by the number of seeds. Lay a mat at the bottom of the pit, then mix the disinfected seeds with 2-3 times wet sand and place them in the pit. Cover with a grass curtain, cover at night and remove during the day. Flip the mixed sand seeds up and down during the day, and water them appropriately. After 15-20 days, most of the seeds will crack and can be sieved out for sowing. If sowing cannot be done in a timely manner, the turning should be stopped and covered or moved to a shady and cool place to lower the temperature and inhibit germination.
Sowing techniques
The Liaoxi region is suitable for spring sowing, striving for early sowing to promote seed germination, ensure strong seedlings, and enhance seedling disease resistance.

After sowing, set up windproof barriers around and in the middle of the seedling field, and withdraw in two stages from late May to early June. To maintain soil moisture and increase ground temperature, the bed surface should be covered with one layer of grain grass, with a thickness that does not cover the bed surface. It should be removed promptly after the seedlings are unearthed.
Seedling management
During the early stage of seedling growth, the principle of watering in small amounts and multiple times should be followed. During the rapid growth period from July to August, it is recommended to irrigate the seedlings with water every 3-5 days. After mid to late August, in order to promote the quality of the seedlings and ensure their smooth overwintering, irrigation is generally not carried out. Topdressing should be carried out during the vigorous growth period of seedlings. In mid July, the overly dense and weak seedlings will fall between each other. Loosening soil should be carried out in July and August to prevent pests and diseases in a timely manner.
Seedlings over 2 years old need to be transplanted in early April of spring. The planting depth should be such that the seedling leaves are not buried in the soil. After planting, they should be compacted and watered in a timely manner. Timely management of transplanted seedlings after survival to promote growth and cultivate them into standardized seedlings.
