In the new standard, the thermal conductivity of graphite polystyrene insulation board is 0.033, which is 0.008 lower than the commonly used expandable polystyrene (EPS).
The new standard's combustion assistance level is B1, which is also lower than the combustion assistance level of EPS. According to officials from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development, the above standards are stricter compared to existing indicators, with the aim of making the material effective in insulation without being flammable. Graphite polystyrene insulation board is mainly used for exterior wall insulation. The production process involves adding 5-50% by mass of expanded graphite and 2-20% of phosphate compounds as flame retardants to expandable polystyrene (EPS), and preparing expanded PS particles through suspension polymerization.

1. Graphite polystyrene board has good fire resistance, and its combustion performance can reach the B1 level of flame retardant type;
2. It has stronger insulation ability and is a product further refined by chemical methods from the classic insulation material foamed polystyrene. Its thermal conductivity is ≤ 0.032, and its insulation ability is 30% higher than ordinary EPS, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
3. The same effect has lower cost, graphite polystyrene board has high cost-effectiveness, and has outstanding insulation ability, especially at low density, which can be clearly demonstrated. Under the same effect, it can save more costs than other fireproof external insulation systems.
4. The construction is simple and the system integrity is good. The construction method of the graphite polystyrene board external insulation system is consistent with that of the EPS thin plaster external wall insulation system, which has high system integrity and durability.
