There are many sharp stones and steel bar heads in concrete, because the tear strength of plastic and rubber is 3-5 times lower than the tensile strength. Once the waterstop is punctured or torn, it does not require a lot of external force, and the crack will expand. Therefore, during the positioning of the waterstop and the pouring and compaction process of concrete, attention should be paid to the positioning method and compaction pressure to avoid the waterstop being punctured and affecting the waterstop effect. The specific precautions are as follows:

1、 Waterstops should not be exposed to sunlight for long periods of time, to prevent rain, and should not come into contact with highly polluting chemicals.

2、 During transportation and construction, prevent mechanical and steel damage to the waterstop.

3、 During the construction process, the waterstop must be reliably fixed to avoid displacement during concrete pouring and ensure the correct position of the waterstop in the concrete.

4、 The methods of fixing the waterstop include: using additional steel bars for fixation, using specialized clamps for fixation, using lead wires and templates for fixation, etc. (see figure). When perforation is required, it can only be installed in the edge installation area of the waterstop, and other parts must not be damaged.

5、 When placing an order, users should calculate the length of the product based on the engineering structure and design drawings. For irregular structures, there should be a drawing description. It is recommended to connect the waterstop as a whole in the factory. If on-site connection is required, methods such as vulcanization bonding or cold bonding (rubber waterstop) or welding (plastic waterstop) can be used.

1. The concrete interface of the fixed waterstop shall be kept flat and dry. Before installation, the interface floating slag, dust and debris shall be removed, and the waterstop shall be fixed at the determined installation position with steel nails or adhesive. But the surface with grouting pipes must be placed on the original concrete interface.

2. When connecting the waterstop strip, parallel overlapping method should be used, and no breakpoints should be left in between. The waterstop strip at the connection should be reinforced and fixed with steel nails, and the reserved grouting connection pipe on the waterstop strip should be inserted into another equal waterstop strip and connected to the two-way joint.

3. According to the length of the installed water stop strip, a three-way joint should be installed at a distance of about 30 meters. One end of the straight three-way joint should be inserted into the water stop strip, the other end should be inserted into the grouting connection pipe, and the other T-shaped end should be inserted into the spare grouting to prevent chemical grouting water leakage in case of gaps.

4. The grouting connection pipe in the connected waterstop must be firmly bonded to the three-way connector, and the grouting pipe of the installed waterstop must be ensured to be completely unobstructed. The spare grouting pipe installed on the tee should be placed in the direction of the inner wall.
