The weight density of steel wire ropes, with the same diameter, the higher the weight density, the better the quality of the wire rope.
2. The core of wire rope, the stronger the core, the heavier the density, the better the support for the outer strands of the wire rope, leading to higher quality wire rope. For instance, most ropes currently use cotton and jute cores, which offer slightly better support than cotton cores. Jute, specifically yellow jute, is superior to both cotton and cotton-jute cores. Among the best cores are sisal and PPC (synthetic fiber cores).
3. The material of wire rope is its steel grade and tensile strength. The higher the steel grade, the better the quality of the wire rope with greater tensile strength.
4. After cutting the rope, a slightly loose quality is desirable; high-quality wire ropes with longer lay lengths are superior to those with shorter lay lengths.
5. The corrosion resistance of 316 stainless steel wire rope is superior to that of 306 stainless steel wire rope, which in turn is better than galvanized wire rope. Hot galvanized wire rope is of higher quality than electro-galvanized wire rope. The quality of nylon coated wire rope is stronger than that of PE sheathed wire rope, which is better than PVC coated wire rope. Plastic-coated wire rope has stronger corrosion resistance than galvanized wire rope.
