The placement (i.e., installation location) of the winch should be mindful of the following points:
The winch must be installed in an area with unobstructed drainage, and a work shed should be constructed.
(2) The installation location of the winch should allow the operator to clearly see the signal person and the lifting or dragging object. The horizontal distance from the winch to the component installation location should be greater than the installation height of the component, meaning that when the component is lifted to the installation position, the operator's line of sight should have an inclination angle less than 45°.
(3) An idler pulley should be set in front of the winch, with the distance from the idler pulley to the drum shaft not less than 15 times the width of the drum for grooved drums, ensuring an inclination angle α not exceeding 2°. For solid drums, the distance should be greater than 20 times the width of the drum to prevent excessive wear on the wire rope and the edge of the idler pulley's groove.
(4) The direction of the wire rope winding onto the drum should be perpendicular to the drum's axis, with an allowable deviation of 6°. This ensures that the wire rope loops are neatly arranged and prevents diagonal winding and overlapping compression.
