Introduction to Air-Inflated Axle Basics and Installation Methods

The air-inflated shaft, also known as the pneumatic shaft, expansion shaft, inflation shaft, air-inflated roller, inflation shaft, pressure shaft, and air-inflated roller, among other names, may vary, but their working principles are the same.

An air-actuated mandrel is a specially manufactured uncoiler, which is a mandrel that can bulge on its surface after being inflated at high pressure, and the mandrel that rapidly retracts on its surface after air is released is called an air-actuated mandrel.

Flat-type, keyed, and sliding friction air-filled shafts are all common types of air-filled shafts. So, how do you install various air-filled shafts onto cylindrical shafts?

During the installation of air-filled shafts (air expanding shafts), two installation methods can be adopted.

Firstly, immediately install it onto the cone shaft.

Secondly, the application of a set-screw sleeve or a withdrawal sleeve is installed on a cylindrical shaft.

How to inflate the air-tyred shaft?

It's as simple as inflating through the gas nozzles on the air胀axle; the key strip will protrude and hold the external part (such as a circular paper tube) in place. To release the paper during unloading, simply press the sliding gas core on the gas nozzle to deflate; the key strip will return to its original state.

When installing with a locknut or a release sleeve, it is permissible to use a less expensive bearing housing (without cone cost), but it will involve larger shaft size tolerances and shift the position of the rolling bearing on the shaft. Since the precision of the bearing housing is not as high as that of the rolling bearing, it is not suitable for applications requiring high precision or high rotational speeds. However, if higher precision is required, it is recommended to use an air-inflated shaft installed directly onto the conical shaft using the direct installation method.

An air-inflated shaft is a specially designed coiler that can be inflated to凸起 its surface under high pressure, and the shaft that quickly retracts its surface after releasing the air is called an air-inflated shaft. Let's discuss the reasons for the air leakage in air-inflated shafts below:

A crack in the hose indicates a quality issue with the hose itself. It is necessary to remove the shaft head and replace the hose again.

2. A gap has appeared in the sealing ring; such occurrences must be addressed in the multifaceted sealing properties of the sealant.

3. Loosened circlip? Just tighten it, and always keep an eye out for any signs of looseness during routine checks.

4. A portion of the inflation valve is leaking air. In this case, simply disassemble, replace, and reassemble it.
