Quartz countertops have become the latest trend in home renovations, enjoying widespread popularity. Although quartz is sturdy and durable, being a bit more careful in our usage can significantly extend its lifespan. Below, Yunfei Stone Industry will share some daily care tips for quartz countertops. We need not only a great countertop but also to know how to maintain and preserve it, ensuring it remains in prime condition at all times!
Quartz stone, known for its hardness and resistance to scratching, has an absorption rate of just 0.02%, making it highly impermeable. As a compression-molded artificial stone, its density can reach up to 2.3g/m³, with some manufacturers also applying surface anti-stain treatments. Avoid using sharp tools for prolonged scraping, as deep scratches can damage the protective layer and lead to bacterial growth issues.
2. Quartz stone slabs are made by pressing quartz sand, resin, and a small amount of additives. Do not leave hot pots and other hot containers on them for extended periods, as the temperature of these hot containers exceeds 100 degrees Celsius. This can cause the countertop to expand and contract with temperature changes, leading to cracks or leaving marks from the container's base. If placement is necessary, please use an insulating pad.
3. Prevent spills of ingredients like oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar on the countertop. In case of spills, clean them up promptly. Use a cutting board for chopping vegetables, as quartz is hard and can cause scratches or dull blades. If accidentally leaving knife marks, gently sand the surface with 180-400 grit sandpaper based on the depth of the marks, followed by a wipe with a scrub pad.
4. Do not use steel wool to scrub while cleaning; simply use clean water. For grease and oil stains, a neutral detergent or soap water can be used. After cleaning, wipe dry with a cloth. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals for quartz stone, as common harsh chemicals in households include paint removers, metal cleaners, stove cleaners, methylene chloride, acetone (nail polish remover), and strong acid cleaners. If any of these chemicals come into contact with the surface, please ensure to clean the countertop with a generous amount of soap water.
Using the same product differently can also result in varying lifespans. Extending the lifespan of goods largely depends on daily careful maintenance. Quartz stone is more expensive than other countertop materials, so it's crucial to read the instructions thoroughly before use. Remember not to cut, chop, or slash directly on the quartz stone slabs, and to perform regular maintenance as well.
