Ductile iron pipes are a type of cast iron pipe. The quality requirements for cast iron pipes dictate that the spheroidizing grade be controlled at levels 1-3 (spheroidizing rate > 80%), thereby significantly improving the material's mechanical properties, combining the essence of iron with the performance of steel.
Heat-treated ductile iron pipes feature a ferrite and a small amount of spheroidite microstructure, offering excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, elongation, and sealing performance. They are easy to install and primarily used for municipal, industrial, and mining enterprises for water supply, gas transmission, and oil transportation.
Compared to PE piping materials, Ductile Iron Pipes are easier and faster to install, with superior internal and external pressure resistance after installation. In terms of airtightness and corrosion resistance, Ductile Iron Pipes provide good airtightness post-installation and can enhance their corrosion resistance through various protective measures. From a hydraulic performance perspective, due to the fact that Ductile Iron Pipe specifications typically refer to the inner diameter, while PE Pipe specifications generally refer to the outer diameter, Ductile Iron Pipes can achieve greater flow rates under the same specifications. In terms of overall installation and maintenance costs, Ductile Iron Pipes offer cost-effectiveness, featuring zinc spraying on the inner wall and cement sand slurry corrosion-resistant materials, among others.
