The sealing integrity of a car is a critical indicator of its overall quality, and car sealing strip products are one of the key components that determine the quality of this indicator. They are widely used in various body parts of vehicles, such as the front and rear windshields, doors, windows, engine compartments, and trunks, to fill the gaps between body components. Seals and gaskets vary in type and material based on the body part they are used for. During our visit to the workshop, we learned about the production process and distinctive features of seal production.
1. Door seals and frame seals: Door seals are often the first thing that comes to mind. They are primarily used for securing the car door and providing dust-proof and sealed protection. There was a saying that went around, "To determine if a car is good, first listen to the sound of its door closing." Though it sounds like a joke, it's actually one of the ways to check if the car has good sealing and a pleasant driving experience.
2. Window Glass Sealing Strip
Window sealant strips are primarily installed on both the inner and outer sides of car windows. They not only enhance the overall appearance but also serve functions such as cleaning windows and reducing noise. The window sealant strips and door frame sealant strips are components that are frequently used and heavily worn in the vehicle's sealing system. They are also one of the standards for assessing the durability and robustness of a vehicle.
3、Trunk Sealant
The trunk seal has strict requirements for water resistance. During rainy weather, the seal plays a crucial role, and also acts as a buffer for the vehicle body during the opening and closing of the trunk.
4. Front and rear seal strips
Due to the sealed front and rear glass panels, these vehicles are factory-equipped with them. When inspecting the seals, pay attention to the tightness of the fit between the glass and the seal. Only a tight fit ensures the protective function of the glass.
These types of sealing strips, commonly used in vehicles, are generally made from ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber. This type of rubber has chemical components that belong to saturated rubbers, offering properties such as chemical stability, antioxidant, wear resistance, and high/low temperature tolerance. It is evident that this seemingly insignificant part plays a crucial role in both car manufacturing and vehicle use.
