The vegetable greenhouse cultivation industry is doing well, but many households are unaware of how to properly ventilate multi-span greenhouses. Let's take a look together below.

One: The arching degrees vary, resulting in different sizes of exhaust openings.

The size of the spring ventilation风口 cannot be defined by a single data point. Due to the varying structures of greenhouses, the timing and speed of cooling also differ. For larger arch greenhouses, the arch design allows for a more efficient release of warm air upwards through the greenhouse film, even with smaller ventilation openings, achieving good ventilation results. In contrast, older, shorter greenhouses with a smaller arch and flatter roof have a slower release of warm air from the ventilation openings, leading to higher temperatures inside. Generally, such greenhouses need to open the top ventilation openings to 40 cm wide to achieve the same ventilation effect as a taller, more arched greenhouse with openings at 30 cm.

Springtime calls for particular attention to staged ventilation.

After setting up the shed for one hour in the morning, open the ventilation slit about 3-5 centimeters to allow a slight breeze, with the intention of expelling moisture inside the shed and replenishing carbon dioxide, to facilitate the smooth operation of the photosynthetic effect. Once the shed temperature rises above 28°C, gradually open the ventilation slit, ensuring the temperature inside the shed does not exceed 33°C (for vegetables like cucumbers and loofah that prefer warmer conditions).

III. With strong winds, pay attention to wind prevention at the ventilation openings.

Increasing the density of the venting ropes is recommended, and it's preferable to use wider strips with greater friction for the ropes. These strips have more friction when securing the greenhouse film with a slipknot, preventing the knot from being loosened by strong winds. Many vegetable farmers opt for nylon ropes as windbreaks due to their convenience, but they need to properly increase the density of the nylon venting ropes and secure them well to prevent the vent from being closed by the wind. It's important to check the ropes regularly during strong wind conditions to avoid them becoming loose or the vent closing.
