As the standardization organization increasingly feels the need to adopt more generic protocols in their work, the rapid emergence of new technologies—such as enhanced Category 5 and 6 cables, gigabit Ethernet, continuously upgraded field test equipment, and fire-resistant cables—has accelerated the formation of alliances between countries and international organizations. There is a growing number of participants in the standardization efforts, including the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and their collaboration is becoming increasingly harmonious. This cooperation has deepened the understanding of certain viewpoints that influence technical specifications, including those for cables and devices. For instance, remote crosstalk and other phenomena have become important indicators for measuring transmission performance.
