B1-rated materials are flame-resistant (products), while B2-rated materials are combustible (products).

Performance Features

Excellent thermal insulation properties

High thermal resistance, low linear expansion, and low expansion ratio, with a closed-cell rate of over 98%, its structure forms a vacuum layer, preventing air flow and heat dissipation, ensuring long-lasting and stable thermal insulation performance. Compared to expanded polyurethane with a closed-cell rate of 80%, the advantages are self-evident. Practical proof shows that a 20mm thick XPS extruded insulation board has the same thermal insulation effect as 50mm thick expanded polystyrene or 120mm thick cement perlite. Therefore, this material is currently the best choice for building thermal insulation.

High-compression resistance

Due to the unique structure of XPS boards, they possess high compressive strength and excellent impact resistance. Depending on the model and thickness of the XPS, its compressive strength can reach above 150 to 500 KPa, capable of withstanding various ground loads. They are widely used in ground heat engineering, highways, airport runways, square ground surfaces, large cold storage facilities, and interior vehicle insulation.

3. Hydrophobic and moisture-proof properties

Moisture absorption is a critical parameter for insulating materials. After absorption, the insulating properties of the material degrade, and in low temperatures, the absorbed water can easily freeze, damaging the material's structure, thereby reducing its compressive and insulating capabilities. Due to the non-absorbent molecular structure of polystyrene, the board's molecular structure is stable with no gaps, addressing issues such as leakage, penetration, frost, and condensation that other materials may experience.

4. Lightweight and easy to use

The closed-cell foam chemical structure and honeycomb physical structure of the XPS board confer it with lightweight and high-strength properties, making it easy to cut, transport, and less prone to damage, with convenient installation.

5. Excellent stability and corrosion resistance

Over extended use, it remains unaged, undecomposed, and free from harmful substances. Its chemical properties are stable, and it does not degrade due to absorption of water or corrosion, maintaining its superior performance even in high-temperature environments. According to relevant information, XPS extruded thermal insulation boards can retain their performance for up to 30 to 40 years, without decomposition or mold formation, and without the release of toxic substances.
