B1-rated materials are flame-retardant materials (products), while B2-rated materials are combustible materials (products).
2. B1-rated materials will extinguish themselves upon being removed from the fire, whereas B2-rated materials will continue to burn even after being removed from the fire.
3. B1-grade materials are slightly higher, while B2-grade materials are considered economical products.
Performance Features
Excellent thermal insulation properties
Characterized by high thermal resistance, low linear expansion, and a low expansion ratio, the material's closed-cell structure exceeds 98%, creating a vacuum layer that prevents air flow and heat dissipation, ensuring long-lasting and stable insulation performance. Compared to expanded polyurethane's 80% closed-cell rate, the advantage is self-evident. Practical evidence shows that a 20mm thick XPS extruded insulation board has the same insulation effect as a 50mm thick expanded polystyrene or a 120mm thick cement perlite. Therefore, this material is currently the best choice for building insulation.
High strength compressive resistance
Due to the unique structure of XPS boards, they possess high compressive strength and excellent impact resistance. Depending on the model and thickness of the XPS, the compressive strength reaches above 150 to 500 Kpa, capable of bearing various ground loads. They are widely used in ground heating projects, expressways, airport runways, square ground surfaces, large cold storage facilities, and vehicle interior insulation and thermal insulation applications.
3. Hydrophobic and moisture-resistant properties
Water absorption rate is a critical parameter for insulating materials. Once insulating materials absorb water, their thermal insulation properties decrease. In low temperatures, the absorbed water can easily freeze, damaging the structure of the insulating material and thereby reducing the board's compressive and thermal insulation properties. Due to the non-absorbent nature of polystyrene molecules, the board's molecular structure is stable with no gaps, addressing issues such as water leakage, penetration, frost formation, and condensation in other materials.
4. Lightweight and easy to use
The closed-cell foam chemical structure and honeycomb physical structure of the XPS board contribute to its lightweight and high-strength characteristics, making it easy to cut, transport, and less prone to damage, with convenient installation.
5. Excellent stability and corrosion resistance
Over time, it remains unaged, non-degradable, and free from the production of harmful substances. Its chemical properties are stable, and it will not degrade due to absorption of water or corrosion, maintaining its performance. In high-temperature environments, it retains its superior properties. According to relevant information, XPS extruded insulation boards can maintain their performance even after 30 to 40 years of use, without decomposition or mold growth, and without the volatilization of toxic substances.
