Principle of Softening Water Equipment:
The fully automatic sodium ion exchange unit employs ion exchange principles to remove scaling ions such as calcium and magnesium from water. As the raw water containing hardness ions passes through the resin layer of the exchanger, the calcium and magnesium ions in the water are replaced by sodium ions adsorbed by the resin. The water is softened, having had its hardness removed.
Soft water equipment, as the name implies, is a device designed to reduce water hardness, primarily by removing calcium and magnesium ions from water. During the process of softening water, the soft water equipment cannot lower the total salt content in the water, and it is suitable for softening water for systems like air conditioners and for the treatment of potable water.

Due to the fact that water hardness is primarily formed and indicated by calcium and magnesium, cation exchange resins (softening agents) are generally used to replace Ca2+ and Mg2+ (the main components of scaling) in water. As the concentration increases, the efficiency of the resin in removing Ca2+ and Mg2+ gradually decreases.
After absorbing a certain amount of calcium and magnesium ions, the resin must be regenerated. The regeneration process involves flushing the resin layer with saltwater from the salt tank, replacing the hardness ions on the resin, and then discharging them along with the regeneration waste liquid out of the tank, restoring the resin's softening and exchange functions.
