Hydroponics, also known as "aquaculture," is one of the primary types of soilless cultivation. It involves creating a relatively sealed environment through specific facilities, maintaining relatively stable conditions such as water, nutrients, air, and heat required for root growth, with all or part of the root system "submerged" in water. In a strict sense, hydroponics is purely soilless cultivation, as there is no intermediate adsorption or buffering medium between the roots and the clear water, resulting in direct "submersion." To ensure robust plant growth, it is crucial to first guarantee healthy root growth, which depends on the rhizosphere environment. The temperature and oxygen ratios in the rhizosphere should be appropriate, and these will be reflected in the appearance of the roots. White, firm, elastic, undistorted, uncolored, and unbroken roots indicate normal root growth. With normal root growth, plants can absorb water and nutrients normally, leading to healthy plant growth. Therefore, hydroponic technology is one of the scientific research methods used to verify whether all essential nutrients for plants are present and whether the rhizosphere environment is suitable.
