(1) Lightweight
Polypropylene fibers have a density of 0.90-0.92 g/cm³, making them the lightest among all chemical fibers. They are 20% lighter than nylon, 30% lighter than polyester, and 40% lighter than rayon fibers, thus, they are particularly suitable for filling materials in winter clothing or as fabrics for ski suits and mountaineering gear.
High strength, excellent elasticity, wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant
High in strength (both in dry and wet states), polypropylene is an ideal material for making fishing nets and ropes; it boasts good wear resistance and resilience, with strength comparable to polyester and nylon, and its resilience rate can rival that of nylon and wool, far exceeding that of polyester and viscose fibers. Polypropylene has poor size stability, is prone to pilling and deformation, is antimicrobial, and is not attacked by pests; it also has superior chemical resistance compared to most fibers.
(3) Electrically insulating and thermally insulating
Polypropylene fiber boasts a high resistivity (7×10^19 Ω.cm), low thermal conductivity, and superior electrical insulation and thermal insulation properties compared to other chemical fibers. However, it tends to generate static electricity during processing. Polypropylene woven geotextiles, manufactured utilizing the excellent properties of high strength, acid and alkali resistance, antimicrobial properties, and equal strength in both dry and wet conditions, can reinforce civil engineering projects built on soft soil foundations, such as dams, reservoirs, highways, and railways. They evenly distribute the load on the geotextile, ensuring uniform settlement of the subgrade and reducing ground cracking. When constructing slopes, woven polypropylene geotextiles can stabilize the slope, minimize collapses, shorten construction timelines, and extend the slope's lifespan. For heavier loads, composite geotextiles with woven geotextiles and nonwoven bases can be used. Polypropylene fiber can be used as a filling material for concrete and mortar, enhancing the impact resistance and waterproof thermal insulation properties of concrete.
