What are the main types of lightweight concrete?
Lightweight concrete is classified according to the type of lightweight aggregate: Lightweight Aggregate Concrete, such as pumice concrete, volcanic ash concrete, and porous tuff concrete. Man-made Lightweight Aggregate Concrete, including clay陶粒 concrete, shale陶粒 concrete, expanded perlite concrete, and concrete made with organic lightweight aggregates. Industrial Waste Lightweight Aggregate Concrete, such as coal slag concrete, fly ash陶粒 concrete, and expanded slag bead concrete.
The categories, based on fine aggregate type, include: Lightweight concrete. Lightweight concrete using lightweight sand as fine aggregate. Sand lightweight concrete. Lightweight concrete using either partially or entirely normal sand as fine aggregate.
The materials are categorized based on their applications: Insulating Lightweight Concrete, with a unit weight less than 800 kg/m³ and compressive strength less than 5.0 MPa, primarily used for insulation structures and thermal buildings. Structural Lightweight Concrete, with a unit weight of 800 to 1400 kg/m³ and compressive strength of 5.0 to 20.0 MPa, mainly used for reinforced and un-reinforced enclosures. Structural Lightweight Concrete, with a unit weight of 1400 to 1800 kg/m³ and compressive strength of 15.0 to 50.0 MPa, mainly used for load-bearing elements, prestressed components, or structures.
