How to Handle a Flexible Conveyer Chain JAM - Ruoyan Machinery
If a flexible conveyor belt gets stuck while in operation, we need to pay attention; it's a reminder to check for issues. Why does a flexible conveyor belt get stuck, and what causes it? Let's analyze it together.
Flexible Conveyer Belt
Flexible conveyor chains may loosen over long-term use, much like new shoes that fit perfectly at first but feel loose after wearing them for a while. That's the same principle. Just as shoes have laces to adjust the fit, flexible conveyors have tension modules. Simply adjusting the tension modules is the solution.
2. The nylon sprockets of our flexible conveyor have experienced tooth wear. If the tooth wear is too severe, it will cause slippage, which not only affects the transportation but also damages the chain plate. It's like our bicycles; when the teeth of the gears wear out, the chain cannot securely engage with the gears, leading to slippage. We would need to replace the sprocket to resolve this issue.

3. Inside the flexible conveyor, there may be impurities or small solids. As we all know, the body of the flexible conveyor is made of profiles, and the chain plates move within the grooves of these profiles. If there's a small screw in the profile, it can collide with the chain plate during operation. A minor collision might damage the chain plate, while a severe one could get caught on the screw or even cause the chain plate to break. Therefore, we need to check for any solid objects that may have fallen into the conveyor body's grooves. To do this safely, we can loosen the tensioning module of the flexible conveyor, disconnect the chain plate links, and remove the chain plate. Most conveyor manufacturers provide instructions on disassembly, and we offer systematic training on the maintenance and care of flexible conveyors.
4. The damage to the flexible conveyor's chain plate usually results in severe friction with the chain sprocket or the body, as the damaged chain plate can cause an inclined state, no longer running on a horizontal plane. Therefore, we need to replace the chain plate promptly or remove the damaged section and replace it with a new one.
