What are ATEX certification and IECEx certification?
ATEX is the EU's CE certification for explosive atmosphere protection, and all explosion-proof products used in potentially explosive hazardous areas in the EU market must obtain ATEX certification.

IECEx certification is an international explosion-proof certification applicable to member countries of the IECEx system. Some member countries directly recognize the IECEx certification.

ATEX Certification Application
The EU has restricted the issuance of ATEX certification to only authorized notified bodies within the EU to control the safety performance of explosion-proof equipment.
As of May 21, 2014, there are now 67 European bodies that have obtained EU notification authorization, up from the previous 24 notified bodies involved in the ATEX Directive.
Commonly compared ATEX notified bodies include TÜV SÜD, TÜV Nord, TÜV Rheinland, DNV, BV, QS, DEKRA, EUROFINS, UL, CSA, ECM, etc.

ATEX certification is a mandatory certification for explosion-proof products in the EU, serving as a directive for explosion-proof within the CE certification, applicable to the EU and its regions.
IECEx is the International Electrotechnical Commission's explosion-proof electrical products certification system, which is voluntary and applicable to member countries of the IECEx scheme.
