On March 28th, a promotional meeting for energy-saving technologies of the Weitaike Screw Expansion Power Plant was held at the Dongya Iron and Steel Company in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. During the meeting, the Xuzhou Energy Conservation Center requested that counties and districts focus on promoting the significant energy-saving advantages of the Weitaike screw expansion machines, especially in enterprises with annual energy consumption above 10,000 tons of standard coal. Over 130 representatives from the economic and information commissions (bureaus) of various counties and districts under Xuzhou, as well as from high-energy-consuming production enterprises locally, and energy companies, steel smelting, and chemical enterprises in Beijing, Hebei, Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangxi, and other places, participated in the promotion event. Director Hao Ningning of the Jiangsu Province Energy Conservation Center attended the meeting.
Many users made a special trip to the Xuzhou East Asia Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., where they observed two operating Weltech screw steam expanders and five ORC screw expanders. Mr. Geng Daowu, the general manager of Xuzhou Essenke Electrical and Mechanical Equipment Co., Ltd., provided us with some data: The East Asia Iron and Steel unit has been running for 140 days, generating a net electricity of over 380,000 degrees, which could save nearly 8,000 tons of standard coal annually and cut electricity costs by over 16 million yuan.
Zhuxu County Economic and Information Commission Director Ji Yulong introduced the operation of the Veltech Screw Expansion Power Station at Dongya Iron and Steel Company during the meeting: He said that the Dongya Iron and Steel project in Xuzhou was implemented after multiple inspections, certifications, and thorough research and alignment. The Veltech Screw Expansion Turbine can fully utilize low-grade energy such as waste heat, pressure, and temperature for efficient power generation, boasting a wide range of applications, small land footprint, and the ability to directly utilize electricity generated. These advantages have broken through the energy-saving bottleneck in the steel industry. By leveraging the contract energy management service model, Veltech Company has promoted the rapid start-up and operation of this project. Dongya Iron and Steel Company has served as a role model in the implementation of energy-saving projects, setting a benchmark for the industry.
Dr. Tang Yan, General Manager of Vertech Corporation, discussed the research and development, energy-saving advantages, and technical features of Vertech's screw expansion power stations at the promotional conference. He provided an overview of the operating screw expansion power stations and elaborated on the energy-saving retrofitting of the currently operational units, as well as the return on investment.
