What are the advantages of AGR pipes?

AGR piping boasts a highly smooth inner wall with minimal water resistance and does not accumulate deposits on its interior. Moreover, AGR piping has a low oxygen permeability, just 1/13 to 1/15 of that in PP-R and PE green plastic piping, thereby preventing the growth of microorganisms and bacteria over time. Additionally, AGR piping and fittings do not contain heavy metal ion stabilizers, ensuring the longevity of the pipeline system and the quality of drinking water. Consequently, AGR piping is hygienic and versatile, suitable for clean water transportation systems in the fine chemical and electronics industries, drinking water supply pipelines, and fluid transportation systems in the beverage and beer industries. Among all domestically produced plastic piping, AGR piping meets the World Health Organization (WHO) sanitation standards for plastic piping.

Low-temperature resistance, high impact resistance


The AGR pipeline system can be used normally in areas with temperatures as low as -30℃, without any concern for impact damage during transportation or construction.

AGR pipe systems exhibit excellent impact resistance. Under -10℃ conditions, 20×2.3 pipe material can withstand a 6Kg hammer dropped from a height of 0.8m without cracking; pipe material with a nominal diameter over 40 can endure a 9Kg hammer dropped from 2.0m without cracking. In contrast, other plastic pipe components would be shattered upon the same impact test, failing to withstand such high-intensity shock tests.

Stiffness and high pressure resistance

AGR pipe systems exhibit tensile strengths ranging from 50.3 to 53.2 Mpa, elastic moduli of 2156 Mpa, and a linear thermal expansion coefficient of just 6×10^-5 m/m°C. These rigorous and scientific test results demonstrate their excellent rigidity. Compared to pipes like PP-R and PE, AGR pipes are less prone to deformation by heat, making them suitable for both exposed and concealed installations; they require minimal supporting materials during construction, offering aesthetic appeal and cost-effective installation.

High rigidity also ensures that AGR piping and fittings can withstand greater pressure resistance. Under isostatic conditions, the wall thickness of AGR is thinner than that of PP-R, PE pipes, etc. Using a smaller diameter AGR pipeline can achieve the same water flow, thereby saving costs and improving installation efficiency.

3. High bonding strength of pipes and fittings ensures the safety and reliability of the pipeline system.

AGR Piping Systems employs the积水No.80 adhesive. This adhesive has excellent affinity with AGR resins, cures quickly, thereby achieving both excellent bonding strength and rapid construction efficiency.

The burst pressure tests on pipe and fitting connectors revealed that all破裂 occurs at the pipe section, with no leakage or damage at the pipe-to-fitting joints. Tensile tests conducted on samples from the pipe-to-fitting connections also showed that all fractures occurred at the pipe section, while the joints remained securely bonded. Under a static water pressure of 17.5 kg, the pipe-to-fitting connections withstood ±4-degree "static water pressure cyclic bending tests" over 2,000 cycles without leakage or loosening. These stringent tests demonstrate the high bonding strength of AGR pipes and fittings, ensuring the construction of stronger, safer, and more reliable water supply networks.

AGR piping is unaffected by residual chlorine in water. Many polyolefin materials, such as PP, PE, and PB, can experience polymer chain segment decomposition when exposed to residual chlorine in water, leading to pipe bursts and leaks. Reports indicate that such issues have been discovered in PB piping in the United States. The fact that AGR is unaffected by water residual chlorine further enhances the safety and reliability of the AGR piping system.

4. Excellent seismic performance

Under a static water pressure of 17.5 Kg, a "shear test" was conducted on a 2-meter-long pipe and fitting assembly by securing one end at 0.5 meters and applying an external force to lift the other end horizontally by 0.3 meters; no leakage at the joint or whitening of the pipe occurred. In a tensile test at a rate of 10mm/min, the assembly elongated by 5% without any joint separation or whitening, cracking, or other abnormal phenomena. For the fatigue test, a 0.3-meter-long pipe was fixed at one end and subjected to 50 sine wave deformation forces at a frequency of 1Hz along the pipe axis at the other end, simulating the vibration of a destructive earthquake; the test results showed no signs of damage to the pipe, with only a deformation of 3.5%, fully meeting the stringent seismic design requirements for pipeline systems.

5. Long lifespan
The pipeline internal water pressure creep test was conducted strictly in accordance with the test methods specified by ISO/DIS 11673. Based on the test results, it is inferred that under 20℃ conditions, the creep resistance of the AGR material remains at 20.7 MPa after 50 years. Additionally, the AGR pipeline exhibits strong resistance to strong acids, alkalis, and various solvents, all of which ensure its service life to be over 50 years.

6. Easy installation and construction

The small diameter AGR pipeline utilizes socket-and-spigot adhesive joints, offering high bonding strength, which is over four times greater than that of standard plastic pipelines. The adhesive cures rapidly, requiring only 30 seconds. Large diameter pipelines employ elastic sealing socket-and-spigot connections, eliminating the need for complex and expensive construction equipment. Simple chamfering tools, cutters, and tensioners are sufficient for installation, making the process extremely straightforward.
