After starting the dredger engine and allowing it to idle for about 10 minutes, once the water temperature, oil temperature, and oil pressure reach the specified requirements, production can begin. With the engine prepared to drive the sand pump and an operator present in the control room, first, the 24V main power switch on the dredger's operation console is turned on. Then, lower the bridge and suction pipe using the dredger's bridge crane winch, allowing the cutter to submerge in the water, and subsequently, start the flushing pump. Next, engage the gearbox and sand pump by flipping the combined switch on the control panel to have the engine drive the gearbox and operate the sand pump. Gradually increase the engine speed to the specified RPM.
During the dredger construction and production, the engine room crew should observe the condition inside the engine room through smell, hearing, sight, and touch. Detect any strange odors, listen for any unusual noises, check if the engine's monitoring instruments are functioning properly. Inspect for oil leaks in the hydraulic system, water leaks in the cooling system, and for any signs of three leaks: water, oil, and gas. Feel the temperature and vibration of moving parts, etc.
