Wires are one of the materials used in the construction of greenhouse structures, and their quality directly determines the lifespan of the greenhouse. Here, our company would like to share with you how to choose the right wires for greenhouse construction. Wires of different thicknesses are suitable for different facilities. Typically, vegetable farmers should know the intended use before purchasing the wires. For instance, 2.8# wires are suitable for greenhouses ranging from 100 to 200 meters; 2.6# wires for greenhouses from 80 to 150 meters; and 2.2# and 2.0# wires for the covering of arch greenhouses (tip: 2.8# refers to a wire diameter of 2.8mm).
During the purchasing process, be attentive to distinguish between the types and quality of steel wire. When procuring, you can roughly determine the product quality by examining the packaging and the appearance of the product. Direct line (thick zinc coating) steel wire is silvery white in color and appears uneven on the surface, but feels smooth and even to the touch. Testing method: cut 3-5 pieces of the direct line steel wire, about 10 cm each, and soak them in concentrated saltwater for 2-5 hours. After removing, let them sit for 2-3 days. The steel wire will have a dark color, with a layer of white powdery solid on the surface. This is standard direct line (thick zinc coating) steel wire, which is the main steel wire used for greenhouse construction now.
