The gabion cages are mechanically woven from high-corrosion-resistant, high-strength, and ductile low-carbon steel wire or the aforementioned wire coated with PVC. The box-like structures made from this mesh are known as stone笼 mesh boxes. The diameter of the low-carbon steel wire used complies with ASTM and EN standards and varies according to engineering design requirements, generally ranging from 2.0 to 4.0 mm. The tensile strength of the stone笼 mesh wire is not less than 38 kg/m², the weight of the metallic coating is usually above 245 g/m², and the diameter of the edge line of the stone笼 mesh sheet is generally larger than the wire diameter. The length of the double-twisted section must be no less than 50 mm to ensure that the metallic and PVC coatings of the twisted wire are not damaged.

The length of the double-strand braiding section must not be less than 50mm to ensure that the metallic coating and PVC coating on the steel wires in the braiding section are not damaged.

(2) Wire Diameter: The stone笼 net is divided into three types of wire diameters – mesh wire, edge wire, and tie wire.

The wire mesh range is from 2mm to 4mm.

2. The edge wire is generally thicker than the mesh wire, being 0.5-1.0mm thicker.

3. Binding wire is generally smaller than mesh wire, with 2.2mm being the most common size.

Surface Treatment

Electro galvanized. Zinc coating: 10g/m². Poor corrosion resistance.

2. Hot-dip galvanized. Zinc coating can reach up to 300g/m². Strong corrosion resistance.

3. Galfan (Zn-Al alloy). This is divided into two materials: zinc-5% aluminum-mixed rare earth alloy wire and zinc-10% aluminum-mixed rare earth alloy wire.

4. PVC Coated. The coating thickness typically covers 1.0mm, for instance: after coating a 2.7mm material, it becomes 3.7mm. Strong corrosion resistance.
