1. Elevated Structures: For natural ventilation cooling without additional cooling methods, eaves should be elevated, ideally 3.5 meters or more. If other cooling methods such as shading, fans, fog-making, etc. are used, the roof overhang can be slightly reduced, but there is still a minimum height, and it is recommended to maintain at least 3 meters.
2. Allowable rising hot air to exit from above: Tai Zi Lou-style, wing-opening, or asymmetric sloping (sawtooth) roofs all fall into this category of architecture. Exhaust fans can be installed below the openings to enhance ventilation.
3. Utilizing open or semi-open architecture: In harmony with site selection and considerations such as summer wind directions, take full advantage of natural ventilation to cool down.
4. Roof Sprinkling: Directly spray water onto the glass greenhouse roof, utilizing the evaporation of moisture to carry away latent heat and lower the roof temperature. The water that does not evaporate can be collected and reused through the gutter.
5. Use External Shading: The external shading system can be installed permanently. The shading mesh should be at least 20 cm away from the roof to allow for air circulation.
6. Utilizing Internal Shading: The purpose is to block heat above the shading net, utilizing fans to exhaust the hot air above. The internal shading system should be retractable, and care should be taken to ensure the path for lower-level air to flow towards the roof's upper opening is not blocked when opened.
7. Utilizing Side Shading: Both extendable and winch-style side shading systems can block intense sunlight under strong sunlight conditions. However, for the purpose of cooling, the extended glass greenhouse is preferable to the coiled type, as the former extends from the eaves, whereas the latter reduces the area of the ventilation openings when coiled. The latter's benefits include its space-saving nature, affordability, and ability to provide insulation and wind protection during low temperatures or strong winds. The side wall on the west side needs to be particularly shaded in the afternoon.
