Regarding architecture, opinions vary greatly. Some favor the classical Western styles, while others find the ancient Eastern structures more timeless. As for me, I have a penchant for the ancient Chinese architecture with its blue bricks and white tiles. Nowadays, it seems that red bricks are普遍 used for construction, and buildings built brick by brick with blue bricks are likely to be found only in historical sites or ancient cities. The reason these historical sites have survived to this day is, in part, due to the blue bricks. It can be said that the ancient architecture is almost inseparable from the traces of blue bricks. Why were blue bricks so widely used in ancient times?

Firstly, due to the differing materials of blue bricks and red bricks. Although both require the same firing technique, their raw materials are distinct. While both utilize clay, red bricks are made from looser clay, whereas blue bricks are crafted from the soil needed for agricultural tilling. After all, food is the foundation of the people, and our country is a major agricultural power. Therefore, tilling land is of utmost importance. If large-scale use of blue bricks were to occur, the area for tilling would decrease correspondingly. This is why the production and use of blue bricks have been banned by the state. Moreover, the production process for blue bricks is a step more complex than that for red bricks, involving the addition of cold water cooling. It is this step that gives blue bricks their color, distinguishing them from red bricks.

Next, blue brick is more durable than red brick. Although many houses are built with red brick now, after construction, many people choose to add a layer of tile to the outside walls and paint the inside with their favorite color. This is not only to make the house look better but also to protect the red brick wrapped between the tiles and paint, which can help reduce the degree of erosion. If tiles are not applied during the initial construction and are added later, the red brick used in the building will have eroded significantly over the years, significantly shortening the lifespan of the house.

The reason why blue bricks are more durable than red bricks is primarily due to their density. For instance, diamonds have a very high density, making them resistant to damage. Similarly, blue bricks have a much higher density than red bricks, making red bricks relatively less sturdy and more susceptible to erosion by wind. Additionally, blue bricks' resistance to frost, oxidation, and their non-abrasive nature are qualities that red bricks cannot match.

And many people find that buildings made of blue bricks look more attractive than those made of red bricks. Blue bricks have been in existence since the Qin Dynasty, with a long history. Moreover, ancient people strongly believed in Feng Shui, where blue is associated with water elements and represents a manifestation of virtue.
