Noise control engineering is an integrated field, mainly covering three major aspects: identification and control of noise sources, interruption of noise propagation pathways, and protection of noise reception points. Specific tasks involve noise reduction treatments for noise sources such as industrial equipment, transportation facilities, and construction projects, such as installing mufflers and soundproofing covers; acoustic and sound-absorbing designs for noise pathways, such as setting up noise barriers and soundproofing walls; and implementing protective measures in noise-sensitive areas like residential areas and schools, such as installing soundproof windows and planting soundproofing green belts. Additionally, it includes noise monitoring and assessment, as well as the establishment and enforcement of noise standards.
