Noise abatement engineering is a comprehensive field, mainly including three major aspects: identification and control of noise sources, blocking of noise transmission pathways, and protection of noise reception points. Specific tasks involve noise reduction treatments for noise sources such as industrial equipment, transportation facilities, and construction activities, such as installing mufflers and noise-dampening enclosures; noise isolation and absorption design for transmission paths, like setting up sound barriers and noise-dampening walls; and protective measures in sensitive noise areas such as residential districts and schools, such as installing noise-dampening windows and planting noise-blocking green belts. Additionally, it also covers noise monitoring and evaluation, as well as the formulation and enforcement of noise standards.
