What to Pay Attention to When Installing a Check Valve

The check valve is a type of valve that automatically opens and closes its valve plate depending on the flow of the medium itself, used to prevent the backflow of the medium and is also known as a non-return valve, one-way valve, reverse flow valve, and back pressure valve. Check valves are a type of automatic valve, primarily used to prevent backflow of the medium, prevent reverse rotation of pumps and driving motors, and release the medium in containers. Check valves can also be used on pipelines that supply auxiliary systems where the pressure may rise above the system pressure.

The check valve is lightweight and compact, easy to install between flanges. The valve interior consists of two semi-circular springs and a plate surface, fixed to the valve body by pins. The deformation of the springs closes the valve plate, while fluid pressure opens it. The quick deformation of the spring protects the pipeline from water hammer damage.

Installation Precautions for Check Valves:

When installing pipelines, ensure that the directional flow of the check valve is aligned with the fluid flow direction.

When using an expansion hose between a check valve and a butterfly valve, never connect it directly to other valves.

Avoid adding pipe joints and obstructions within the valve plate operating radius.

Do not install a reducer pipe in front of or behind the check valve in the swing check design.

When installing a check valve in a lug type in the vicinity of an elbow, ensure ample space is left.

When installing a sandwiched check valve at the pump outlet, at least six times the diameter of the valve should be left clear to ensure the butterfly plate is acted upon by the fluid.
