Compaction constructionFor crawler paver operators, a common issue is the crawler chain coming off. Equipment-wise, occasional chain disengagement is unavoidable due to harsh working conditions, with soil or stones potentially causing the chains to come off. If the equipment frequently disengages, it's time to investigate the cause, as crawler paver chain disengagement can easily lead to accidents.

What are the reasons for the track chain coming off?

Today, let's briefly discuss common reasons for chain unloading.

Actually, there are many reasons for the belt derailing, aside from the drill machine derailing due to dirt, stones, or other impurities entering the belt, there are also local issues like the walking tooth ring, derailment wheel, and chain protector that can cause the derailment. Additionally, improper operation can also lead to the drill machine derailing.

The issue with the tension cylinder caused a chain disengagement. At this moment, it is necessary to check if the tension cylinder has forgotten to apply grease and to inspect for any oil leakage in the tension cylinder.

2. Severe track wear leading to chain disengagement. Over time, with continuous use, the tracks are bound to experience wear. The wear on components like the chain links and sprockets can also cause the tracks to disengage.

3. Chain Sprocket Wear Leading to Chain Breakage. Nowadays, almost all drilling rig tracks are equipped with chain guards, which play a crucial role in preventing chain breakage. Therefore, it is also very important to inspect for wear on the chain guards.

4. Chain disengagement due to the wear of the drive motor sprocket. In terms of the drive motor sprocket, if the wear is severe, we need to replace it, which is also a significant cause of the drill's chain disengagement.

5. Chain Sprocket Damage Leading to Chain Breakage. Generally, oil leakage from the chain sprocket seal can cause severe wear on the chain sprocket, resulting in the track chain breaking.

6. Chain Derailment Caused by Guide Wheel Damage. When inspecting the guide wheel, ensure that the screws on it are intact and not cracked. Check if the slot that holds the guide wheel is deformed.

How to Prevent Track Chain Derailment?

When walking on the construction site, please position the walking motor towards the rear to minimize pressure on the sprocket wheel.

2. The machine should not be continuously walking for more than 2 hours. It is recommended to minimize the time spent walking on the construction site. If necessary, it is suggested to make short stops in between before resuming walking.

3. Avoid protruding solid objects while walking to prevent the formation of stress concentrations in the track chain.

Ensure the correct tension of the tracks. Adjust them to be tighter in soft ground like mud, and looser when walking on stones. Either too loose or too tight is not good; too loose can cause the tracks to slightly derail, and too tight can lead to rapid wear on the sprockets.

5. Regularly check for any foreign objects, like stones, that may be caught in the tracks; if present, they should be cleared.

6. Operating on muddy construction sites often requires frequent idling to clear the accumulated dirt within the tracks.

7. The driver of the pile driving equipment must regularly check the rail protector below the guide wheel and the welded rail protector there.
