Rubber fender structures are typically divided into two main categories: solid rubber fenders (non-floating) and floating rubber fenders.
Solid rubber fender (non-floating type) is a long-standing and widely used collision prevention equipment for码头 vessels. It can be classified into shear, rotational, and compressive types based on the stress conditions of the fender. According to the structure of the fender, solid rubber fenders can be further categorized into D-shaped, conical, drum-shaped, fan-shaped, rectangular, cylindrical fenders, and so on.
Buoyant rubber fender can float freely on the water surface and is categorized based on its internal buffer medium into: inflatable rubber fender and filled rubber fender.
The inflatable rubber fender operates by using compressed air as a medium, dissipating collision energy through the work done by the compressed air.
Foam-filled fender, also known as solid polyurethane fender, features a buffer medium primarily composed of closed-cell foam materials, such as foam EVA, foam polyurethane, and foam rubber, etc.
Solid rubber fender has high energy absorption and rebound properties, and boasts advantages such as low cost, long service life, and simple installation and maintenance. It is a popular protective device for docks and shipyards.
The floating rubber fender is a relatively new type of fender equipment. Compared to solid rubber fenders, its main features include: large compressive deformation, high energy absorption, low reactive force, self-floating, and easy installation. It is commonly used in ship-to-ship, ship-to-wharf cargo handling, and docking situations. Due to its self-floating property, it is also particularly suitable for installations at wharves with significant tide level changes. The filled rubber fender, with its maintenance-free and long-life benefits, is especially suitable for applications in harsh environments, such as offshore drilling platforms.
The industry standards for solid rubber fender used in our company are "HG/T 2866-2016 Rubber Fender" and "GB/T 21537-2008 Conical Rubber Fender."
