Centrifugal extractors use an electric motor to drive a drum to rotate at high speed. The two liquids to be mixed and separated are mixed and transferred through the shearing force generated by the agitator blades, and then quickly separated under the centrifugal force produced by the high-speed rotation of the drum.

Centrifugal extractors can be used individually or in a multi-stage series to achieve countercurrent extraction. They feature high mass transfer efficiency, short residence times of both phases, and minimal retention, with simple operation and the ability to adjust speed, flow ratio, and mixing intensity as needed.

Mixed process

Light and heavy phase materials are fed into the mixing zone of the equipment via the feed port at the bottom of the centrifugal extraction unit in the required ratio as per the process specifications. The motor drives the mixing structure at high speed, rapidly blending and dispersing the light and heavy phases, thereby completing the mixing mass transfer process.

Separation process

The mixed liquid enters the drum under the action of the vortex disc or feeder. Within the cavity formed by the drum's web, the mixed liquid quickly synchronizes with the drum's rotation. Under the force of centrifugal force, the heavier phase liquid with higher density gradually moves away from the drum center and towards the drum wall as it flows upwards. Conversely, the lighter phase liquid with lower density moves away from the drum wall and towards the center. After clarification, the two liquid phases enter their respective collecting chambers through individual weir plates and exit via the heavy and light phase outlets, thereby completing the two-phase separation process.
