LNG Low-Temperature Storage Tank Detailed Description:

The LNG storage tank is a horizontal double-walled structure, consisting of an inner tank, an outer tank, internal and external supports, an insulating layer, a pressure safety system, a vacuum extraction device, and a pipeline system. All vacuum-insulated structures rely on vacuum. Due to the high degassing rate and extraction resistance of the insulating space materials, and the inability to exceed the baking temperature of the sealing materials, which also degas slowly, vacuum extraction is challenging. To achieve the required vacuum level within the design-specified extraction time, factors include the vacuum pump and extraction process, as well as the flow area of the annular extraction pipes. To ensure a high vacuum level and improve extraction speed, a vacuum extraction device is installed at both ends of the equipment. One device consists of three extraction pipes, placed in the lower annular space and extracted from the bottom, while the other device, also with three extraction pipes, is positioned in the upper annular space and extracted from the top. The two sets of extraction pipes cross and overlap along the tank's length. By increasing the flow area of the extraction pipes and using various auxiliary methods such as heating and nitrogen displacement, the vacuum extraction structure for the 100 m³ annular insulating space reduces the vacuum acquisition time to one-third of the conventional structure.

1. Shipment Mode

LNG tanks typically come in vertical and horizontal types. Vertical tanks have the advantage of occupying less land, being easy to use, and reducing the power consumption of submersible pumps due to gravity differences, thereby saving electricity. However, vertical tanks generally exceed 10 meters in height, which can cause fear among nearby residents, making them unsuitable for urban areas. Horizontal tanks are the most commonly used type currently. Their drawback is that they require more land. Additionally, there are safety distance requirements between the storage tanks and surrounding structures and facilities, both within and outside the station, which, according to GB50156, increases the design complexity.

2. Insulation form

Common insulating forms for LNG tanks include high vacuum multilayer wrapping insulation and pearl sand powder insulation. The latter is more common in practice due to its lower cost.

3. Materials

The container is made of high-quality Austenitic stainless steel 0Cr18Ni9 sheet or imported 304 sheet; the outer container is made of high-quality carbon steel Q345R steel plate.

4. Safety Protection System

The safety protection system consists of tank accessories, including: pressure gauges, level gauges, fully enclosed safety valves with one in use and one in reserve at the root, overflow outlets, and bursting disks.

5. Filling Form

LNG tanks can be filled via the top or bottom. Top filling uses cold liquid to liquefy the BOG gas inside the tank. Both methods can be employed, and the choice during unloading depends on the on-site conditions. It's quite complex and can't be explained in just a few sentences.
