The stern bearing tube is an assembled component, comprising the main body of the stern bearing tube, sleeve, and bearings. It is available in two types: conventional and improved. The conventional stern bearing tube has two main structural forms: integral tail tube and jointed tail tube. The latter is generally longer and often assembled in several sections. Additionally, a human figure brace is installed at the tail end. Some shallow-draft mono-hull boats also have a human figure brace, and both the stern bearing tube and the brace are fitted with bearings to support the stern bearing.
