Pre-treatment for Rust Prevention

1. Cleanse

Before applying rust preventative oil, metal products must be cleaned using an appropriate method. If not cleaned or not cleaned thoroughly, there may be residues such as sweat, dust, etc., on the metal surface, posing a risk of corrosion. Or, the product may already be corroded, making any amount of rust preventative oil futile. Therefore, thorough cleaning is essential. Common cleaning methods include solvent cleaning, chemical treatment cleaning, and mechanical scrubbing cleaning. It is recommended to choose the appropriate method based on the properties of the product's surface and the current conditions.

2. Dry

If not treated for rust immediately after cleaning, corrosion may still occur, so it's essential to dry the item thoroughly after cleaning. The simplest method is to wipe it dry with a clean cloth, or you can use filtered dry compressed air to dry it, or use a dryer set at 120-170°C for drying.

3. Heating

Some rust-preventive oils are quite thick due to various reasons, making them unsuitable for dipping or brushing at room temperature. They can be used after being heated.

If operated at high temperatures for extended periods or heated improperly, certain additives may decompose, rendering the anti-rust oil ineffective. Therefore, heating must be conducted at the specified temperature, and heating should be stopped when not in use to prevent the anti-rust oil from deteriorating.

Usage Instructions:

1. Coating Immersion

This method is suitable for the anti-rust treatment of large quantities of metal products and components, such as bearings, hardware, automotive parts, and cutting tools.

Specific Method: Prepare a certain amount of liquid rust preventive oil, fully immerse the clean metal products in the oil, and remove them once the oil is completely coated on the metal surface and reaches a certain film thickness, then drain or dry.

Please note: This method can also be used for slightly larger workpieces, but it is recommended to coat them individually and not apply it to products with existing coatings. After rust prevention treatment, ensure thorough drying. If drying is necessary, cool the product to room temperature before packaging to avoid oil movement due to incomplete drying, which may lead to corrosion.

2. Brush coating

All applications requiring rust prevention are suitable, particularly for items coated or only partially rust-resistant, and can be used in conjunction with other methods, such as large machinery and equipment.

Specific Method: Dip a brush into the rust-preventive oil and apply it to the clean surface of metal products.

Be sure not to miss any area when painting. The coating should not be too thick and should be as even as possible. Uneven coating thickness can lead to oxygen concentration cells on the metal surface, resulting in some areas having excellent rust prevention while others may show corrosion.

3. Spray coating

Effective for rust prevention on large surfaces, such as pillar surfaces and the surfaces of precision products.

The specific method involves spraying rust-preventive oil onto the clean surface of metal products using a high-pressure spray gun.

Caution: Avoid missing any side. Select the appropriate spray gun based on the viscosity of the anti-rust oil, control the spray distance and appropriate pressure, and strive for an even oil mist distribution without any stringy oil or intermittent patterns.
