Ductile iron, a commonly used metal in mechanical manufacturing, generally has good machining properties. However, during the machining of ductile iron parts, the internal graphite content causes oil to precipitate from water-based cutting fluids, leading to a decrease in cutting fluid concentration and resulting in rust and spots on the cast iron parts. So, how should we handle the machining of ductile iron parts?
How can we prevent these metal parts from rusting? We can choose rust prevention methods according to the requirements and standards for rust prevention.
1. Short-term (0-30 days) rust prevention can be achieved using water-soluble rust preventive solutions, eliminating the hassle of cleaning. It is colorless and transparent, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective, and can be applied through immersion and spraying techniques.
2. For mid-term indoor storage or land transportation, "Yongyu" brand waterborne vapor phase corrosion inhibitor or vapor phase corrosion inhibitor oil can be used for rust prevention, which can provide rust protection for up to one month to three years.
3. For long-term indoor storage or sea transportation, use "Yongyu" brand anti-rust oil with "Yongyu" brand VCI vapor phase corrosion inhibitor packaging, and desiccant for rust prevention, which can offer protection for 1 to 3 years.
