In the past two years, many car owners have reported that their new vehicles have arrived with rusted driveshafts, raising concerns about safety performance among owners.

In fact, this is somewhat related to whether the shaft manufacturer and vehicle manufacturer have taken adequate anti-corrosion measures. Traditionally, the focus of simple anti-corrosion methods has been to treat the metal surface of the shaft, such as by soaking or spraying with anti-corrosion oil or agents. However, this simple anti-corrosion approach no longer fully meets current requirements.

After washing and drying transmission parts and connecting elements, rust prevention treatment should not be performed immediately, as the high-temperature surface of the transmission shaft may cause a chemical change in the rust preventive oil or agent, affecting the effectiveness of rust prevention. All operational processes should avoid direct contact between operators and products, and different clean gloves should be worn for each step to prevent contamination from the previous process from being transferred to the next.

After degreasing cleaning, the drive shaft surface must be cooled to the temperature required for rust prevention before the anti-rust treatment can be applied. If anti-rust oil is used, consider the anti-rust cycle requirements of the drive shaft when selecting.

To extend the rust prevention cycle of drive shafts and reduce the risk of rust, it is also necessary to enhance rust protection in their packaging. Opt for Yongyu VCI rust prevention film or rust-proof bags for wrapping, and place rust-proof paper between the layers of the drive shaft. This not only reduces friction between the drive shafts but also enhances rust prevention.

For the humid summer months, the temperature difference between day and night during the transmission shaft transportation process can lead to condensation inside the packaging. Therefore, it is recommended to place a certain amount of moisture-proof desiccant inside the inner packaging of the transmission shaft, or moisture-proof and rust-preventing desiccant or rust-preventing powder packets with dual functions.

The above directions for anti-rust improvements are applicable to shaft manufacturers. Specific implementation methods should be determined based on actual production processes and technical requirements of the products.
