Insulating core rods, also known as epoxy glass fiber pulling rods, serve as the framework for composite insulators, supporting the hood, internal insulation, and connecting hardware at both ends, while also withstanding mechanical loads. They offer high tensile strength, typically exceeding 600 MPa, which is twice that of ordinary steel and 5 to 8 times that of porcelain materials. They also possess excellent dielectric properties and resistance to chemical erosion, as well as good resistance to bending fatigue, creep, and impact. Silicone rubber hood sleeves primarily protect the core rod, shield against rain and snow, increase the creepage distance, and enhance external insulation. They are made from high polymer silicone rubber, reinforced with flame retardants, anti-aging agents, coupling agents, and other fillers through high-temperature and high-pressure vulcanization. They exhibit good hydrophobicity and migration properties, along with excellent resistance to corrosion, aging, and electrical insulation. Moreover, they have a high flashover voltage and resistance to breakage, with a uniform voltage distribution. Compared to porcelain, their flashover voltage under the same conditions is more than twice that of porcelain. The composite insulator is interchangeable and can be used in place of porcelain insulators and others.
