The composite insulator is composed of three parts: an insulating core rod, a silicon rod with a rubber sheath, and the connecting hardware at both ends. Insulating core rod, also known as the epoxy glass fiber pulling rod, serves as the framework for composite insulators, supporting the hood, inner insulation, connecting hardware at both ends, and withstanding mechanical loads. It boasts an exceptional tensile strength, typically exceeding 600MPa, which is twice that of ordinary steel and 5 to 8 times that of ceramic materials. It also exhibits excellent dielectric properties and resistance to chemical erosion, as well as good resistance to bending fatigue, creep, and impact. Silicone rubber hood primarily protects the core rod, shields against rain and snow, increases the creepage distance, and enhances the product's external insulation. It is made from high polymer silicone rubber, reinforced with flame retardants, anti-aging agents, coupling agents, and other fillers through high-temperature, high-pressure vulcanization. It offers good hydrophobicity and migration properties, along with excellent resistance to corrosion, aging, and electrical insulation. Moreover, it boasts a high flashover voltage and resistance to breakage, with uniform voltage distribution. Compared to porcelain, its flashover voltage under the same conditions is over twice that of porcelain. Composite insulators are interchangeable and can be used in place of porcelain insulators and others.
