Composite insulators consist of three parts: an insulating core rod, a silicone rod with a rubber sheath, and the connecting hardware at both ends. Insulating core rod is a shorthand for the epoxy glass fiber pull rod. It serves as the frame of the composite insulator, supporting the hood, inner insulation, connecting hardware at both ends, and bearing mechanical loads, among other functions. It boasts a high tensile strength, generally exceeding 600MPa, which is twice that of ordinary steel and 5 to 8 times that of ceramic materials. It also exhibits excellent dielectric properties and chemical resistance, as well as good resistance to bending fatigue, creep, and impact. Silicone rubber hood primarily functions to protect the core rod, shield against rain and snow, increase the creepage distance, and provide external insulation for the product. It is based on high molecular polymer silicone rubber, reinforced with flame retardants, anti-aging agents, coupling agents, and other fillers, vulcanized under high temperature and pressure. It has good hydrophobicity and migration properties, along with excellent resistance to corrosion, aging, and electrical insulation. It also boasts high pollution flashover voltage and fracture resistance, with even voltage distribution. Compared to ceramic, its flashover voltage under the same conditions is twice that of ceramic. The composite insulator is interchangeable and can be used in place of porcelain insulators and others.
