The instrument is connected by the upper motor and motor-driven linkage, with the motor and main shaft being driven by a universal joint. The lower end of the main shaft is fitted with an electrode head, which is connected by a threaded connection to accommodate various electrodes, and is held in contact with the electrode by a spring pin on the shaft.
