Expanded Polystyrene Foam Board, commonly known as XPS board, is a material formed by continuously extruding and foaming through a special process. Its surface features a uniform and smooth hard film, with a completely closed-cell structure, uniformly continuous foaming, and a honeycomb-like appearance.

Expanded polystyrene boards are a powerful construction material, offering great value for the building industry, and possess the following characteristics:

Superior and durable thermal insulation properties

2. Superior Absorbency

3、SuperiorProlonged thermal insulation properties

Unexpected Strength in Pressure Resistance

5. Excellent flame retardancy

High-quality eco-friendly products

Low construction costs, easy to transport

8. Corrosion-resistant and durable

Expanded polystyrene boasts superior characteristics, earning it widespread market acclaim. So, how can consumers distinguish between good and bad expanded polystyrene? How do you choose high-quality expanded polystyrene?

I. Observe raw materials (color)

Extruded polystyrene boards on the market typically come in three colors: white, blue, and black. The raw materials required for boards of different colors vary. These boards can be directly extruded from pure polystyrene granules or powder, or from recycled plastic and foam boards that are melted and then processed into shape. Extruded boards made from waste materials tend to have more impurities and are usually not as pure in color, often appearing black or gray. In contrast, extruded boards produced from polystyrene resin are generally whiter. Therefore, the lighter the color of the extruded board, the higher its quality.

Two: View Bubble Pores

Pores are a key factor in determining the thermal insulation quality of extruded polystyrene, so we must observe the surface and uniformity of the pores when selecting. The more uniform the pores, the better the insulation. A dense and uniform pore structure can increase the distribution of flame retardant in unit volume, enhancing its flame retardant efficiency. Conversely, uneven pores are prone to releasing internal gases, which reduces the flame retardant efficiency.

III. Witnessing External Pressures

High-quality extruded polystyrene boards exhibit recoverable deformation or indentation when subjected to external pressure, which is barely noticeable to the naked eye. In contrast, low-quality extruded polystyrene boards will sustain irrecoverable deformation and indentation upon compression, leaving distinct marks.

Four: View耐火 Level

When selecting extruded polystyrene, we also consider its fire rating. Generally, there are B1 and B2 ratings. B1 is the flame-retardant class, meaning it extinguishes automatically after being away from the fire source or within 10 seconds. B2 is the slow-burning class, indicating that the fire will not escalate after ignition, and the droplets will not ignite filter paper. B1-rated extruded polystyrene is usually chosen, as it effectively resists combustion.

Five: Check Thickness

Inspect the extruded polystyrene board thickness and select the appropriate thickness based on different requirements. Typically, users can choose extruded polystyrene boards ranging from 2 to 10 centimeters in thickness.
